Fifth lesson learnt

*First wisdom is sociology; things might not be the way it is.*

Did you ever judge someone or something based on another person's information regarding to the subject?

This few days, i feeling a bit sorry for my ex church a.k.a city harvest church because i didn't know so many people in Singapore are guilty of this also. People have been asking me why my ex church spend so much $ in building the church and said that this money can be spend on charity and doing more worthwhile things.

A few days ago, i was reading newspaper, there's actually a bunch of devout buddhist followers donated 59 millions for temple constructions. (The Straits Times, Monday, November 6 2006 "A fortune in donations buried in Chinatown Temple) and no offence to the buddhist out there, just want to make it point that. Certainly you want people to know that you believe in a God who is glorious in His image just like His temple or His sanctuary right?

It's just like wearing branding, you want to portray the image that you want to be and so does your institutions for example, SIM has portraying as a part time education centers for working class.

Sixth lesson learnt

*Always give people the benefit of the doubt*

Anyway, i got the feeling most people didn't know City Harvest Church got a community service association. (http://www.chcsa.org.sg/chcsa_stats.htm) check out the statistic and you will be amazed. Well I didn't know what the rest of the institutions are doing but I am certainly know that this church is at least contributing back to the society using the so called worthwhile money.

Seventh Lesson learnt

*People accept changes slowly, Tradition need to change if needed for the better and not losing its value. - Just like what Jesus said*

Luke 5:36-39
"And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for he says, 'The old is better."

I was reading the newspaper again, a monk was a CEO of a 1500 temple, he's got a MBA in his studies and apparently he was trying to sell the school ancient secret martial arts which is in Shaolin Temple to manage the finance of the temple.

Quoted from the below article
"
The abbott makes no apologies that the temple now relies heavily on tourist dollars.

'
Throughout Shaolin history, we have relied on agriculture. These days, the monastery's upkeep, the preservation of historical relics and restoration of buildings - almost all are supported by tourism.'

Recently our 65 MPs are dressed up in Streetstyle wear to give us a modern hiphop dance, I believe they are trying to engage with the whole new generation of voters in the future elections to come.

Quoted from Channelnewasia
"
All of us are having fun. It's not important whether we perform well, we dance well or whether we look professional on tv or during the parade. Most importantly, we have to connect with the youths of today," said Lam Pin Min, MP, Ang Mo Kio GRC."

My conclusion
Obviously in this new age world, we cannot use the old method to handle new situations, old tradition need to be revised and implement this new methods in the new situations without losing its original value.
